News - August 07

An enjoyable day was had by all when the Pike Anglers of Cambourne made their first summer outing of the new 2007/8 season. Our day began early with a short trip into nearby Cambridge to fish the River Cam. We managed to catch a couple of small pike very early after our arrival, with the bonus they were caught on a couple of our newlybought lures.

After a couple of hours or so no other fish were caught so we decided to move to another venue, this gave us four more fish but once again the pike were only small. After a short liquid lunch we headed off to a new stretch of water that we hadn’t fished before. Once again we managed a couple of small pike.
Another fishless hour had passed so we decided to head off back home. So, a long but eventful day had yielded eight pike; a reasonable start to our season.

We also ventured out on the warm, balmy Sunday evening along The Great Ouse. We were on a quest for Zander and keen to christen our new lures. Peculiarly, we both hooked fish, but couldn’t see what they were. They were extremely lively and we both lost them! We are convinced they were our elusive Zander. We will return!

Until next time,

Good fishing. Stuart
